When I was little, one day at school, we read an excerpt from the classroom textbook. Why I was so impressed that I remember it so clearly for so many years, I do not know, what I do know is that it accurately described a situation, which I would live some years later. You do not understand much of course, I will explain immediately. The passage we had read was about a man who had to go to work and wait at the bus stop with many other people, who were also waiting for the same reason. The time was passing the hero of our story was late, the people had started shouting and puffing, the atmosphere in the stop was causing discomfort and generally a pandemonium prevailed. When the bus finally arrived, voices, panic, others were going up, others were coming down, pushing, everyone to get up, to be squeezed ... the doors close and the bus leaves. The hero of the story we read, had stayed at the stop, since there was no room for other people on the bus and as the stop was empty, he sat there staring at the road, thinking about what had happened two minutes ago. Voices and pushes to get people on the bus? After all, our hero could not enter or did not want to? Did he finally choose to move on to the next, hoping for a more humane behavior?
Going to university, using the bus was part of my daily routine. In the years that followed, going or returning from school, a representation of the above story happened to me several times. And like the hero of the story, so I always chose to stay behind. Behind the voices and the pushes, behind me, suffocatingly waiting for the people to come down, to take a breath. The time of day is predetermined and it is not up to me to increase or decrease it, but it is up to me to distribute it properly.
Nowadays, the rhythms of everyday life have forced us to do everything quickly. We wake up fast, we eat fast, we talk fast. We make definite moves over and over again. Throughout this situation, the real pleasures are in the small things.
Set the alarm ten minutes early in the morning and get ready without being in the mouth. Do not rush to your meal time and let it last three minutes more .. turn off the TV an hour earlier and enjoy the company of a book combining it with a hot drink. Give value to your time!
Do not talk fast, think first what you want to say. Do not impoverish your mind by using the same words. Enrich your vocabulary, feed your thinking and "wear your goodies" through your speech! There are words that give their hearing another glamor in a conversation, why stay the same when you can make your thinking more creative?
The Greek language is a treasure with countless linguistic diamonds. Through this Blog we will try to search for some of these diamonds, to study them and to explain them. We will see words that may be difficult to use, analyzing them and explaining how we should use them, we will enrich the vocabulary by learning new words and we will write articles that aim to study various topics relevant or not. Make proper use of your mobile ἠ computer, use the means to learn something new, to add a little stone to your knowledge!
