The history lesson is especially important for the student. It enriches his knowledge, teaches him the situations and events of the past and helps him to develop historical thinking, so that he can understand various situations, which lead to the formation of values.

The period to which this course refers is about two hundred years from the French Revolution of 1789 to the present day. The last century, ie the years from the end of the 19th century until today, is what we call the modern era. During the period that we will examine many events affected, to a greater or lesser extent, the lives of people. The book presents the main ones and deals, in much more detail, with the history of the Greeks, connecting it with the historical development of other peoples, especially the neighbors, the Balkans and Europe.

Emphasis was not placed on information entry. The effort was focused on presenting a general picture of the 19th and 20th centuries, and mainly on highlighting the most important problems that occupied each era, as well as the legacy that this era left to the later ones.

In this context, the historical narrative is rather concise and aims not only at knowledge, but mainly at the development of critical ability. This can be achieved by learning methods and techniques of approaching the past, by studying quotations written from a different perspective each, as well as with appropriate exercises. Our goal is always to form a historical consciousness: by acquiring the ability to reflect on the past, we cultivate the ability to think about the present. That's why it's worthwhile to deal with history.
